My wife likes deals. She is storing up lots of things in buckets. The usual price of plastic storage buckets at Army-Navy stores is anywhere from $5 to $8. She prefers paying nothing.
She took photos of two buckets she picked up recently. One cost $1. The other cost nothing.

I buy buckets at a local doughnut shop for $2 -- they come with a sealing lid so the buckets are superior in some respects to others that can be found on the cheap. The buckets are OKed by the FDA for foods -- concentrated fruit was the original purpose - so prepers might find these types of buckets useful.Another subscriber added this:
Please tell your wife that pickle buckets can be deodorized with baking soda, just like the refridgerator. Put 2-4 Tsp in, cover let stand for a couple of days, add 1 Quart of water to disolve, then wash with soda water, finally wash as usual. Let air dry and the bucket is good to go.
