In marketing, you should pay attention to the desires of your prospective customers.

Who are the customers of a college? Parents who pay the fees.

Grove City College ignores parents. It makes this fact obvious on its website.

Whoever is in charge of recruiting has made an assumption: parents are out of the loop. Their children will make the decision.

In a time of online education, where a student can earn a B.A. degree from an accredited college for $15,000, total, in as little as two years out of high school, private colleges should begin paying attention to parents. The days of wine and roses are over. But they have not yet begun to respond to this new era.

Digital education is cheap. A student can earn a degree much faster.

Colleges had better learn how to sell parents on a degree that costs 7 or 8 times more.

Parents may find out about this.
