Firefox Doesn't Trust Google.

Yesterday, on Google News, this appeared down the right-hand side of my screen.

When this has happened to GaryNorth.com in the past, my technicians rush around frantically to find out what is going on. What infraction has taken place? What is it in Firefox that has raised a digital red flag?

I don't know if technicians at Google were equally panicked. Probably, they were not as panicky as I am, whenever this happens to my site. It has happened more than once.

When some coding problem hits Firefox or another browser, the victims have to prove their innocence. But When Google gets hit, Firefox will have to explain what went wrong. Somehow, I do not think the world will blame Google.

This is not the first time this has happened.

But maybe it really is Google's fault. I still don't think Firefox's users are going to abandon Google just because Firefox issues a warning.

For anyone other than Google or Yahoo, this sort of warning is a catastrophe if it isn't fixed. The site's traffic collapses. Income falls. The regular users will conclude that something important has gone wrong. Something has indeed gone wrong. But how are the victimized site's technicians going to prove this?

Having been through this on several occasions, I wish Google's technicians well.

If your business is 100% dependent on the Internet, as mine are, this sort of event is not taken lightly. There are no guarantees online. There is a case for media diversification.
