Razor Blade Life Extension

I have tried two ways. Both work.

First, there is the time-consuming way: a few extra seconds after every shave. This video has been seen 750,000 times. [Oct. 2019 note: 1.2 million.] That has hurt Gillette and Schick.

I sliced off a strip about two feet long from old blue jeans. I hung the strip over a towel bar next to my sink. I stapled it at the bottom.

I do about ten swipes in one direction. This holds the blade's edge for three months.

Second, I tried this. Put a little cheap olive oil in a cup. Put the blade into the oil. Leave it there until the next shave. Here is an example.

I used one blade for ten months. It may have been an abnormal blade.

I suppose I could do both: strop it, then soak it in oil. That test will come next year.
