Hierarchies and Networks in the Digital World to Come: Why Ferguson Is Wrong

Gary North - June 14, 2014

I am trying something new. This issue is video-based.

The May 15 issue of Remnant Review marked its 40th anniversary. I sent out the first issue of the newsletter on May 15, 1974.

This is posted on June 14. June 15 is a Sunday. I don't work on Sundays.

Part 1 is on academic hot shots. It discusses what it takes to become one, which prominent economists did not quite make it, and which did.

I didn't.

In Part 2, I respond to a creative -- but mistaken -- article by Niall Ferguson. His article is titled, "Networks and Hierarchies." It is here. It is worth reading. It is on the co-opting by the U.S. government of the new digital communications system. Basically, he thinks that the Feds and the biggest players on the Web can work out deals. The state will continue to extend its influence in our lives through the networks. Fortunately, he is wrong. I show why he is wrong.

I do not plan to do future issues of Remnant Review as screencasts, but I wanted to do it once, just to see what would happen.
