The good news about Warren Buffett's decision to give away 85% of his wealth (an estimated total of $44 billion) is not that he will give it away. It is where he will give it.
A lot of it is headed for Bill and Melinda Gates' Foundation.
Why is this good news? Because Gates is focused on how to save lives of children, especially in sub-Sahara Africa.
Before, Buffett had said he would transfer his shares in Berkshire Hathaway to his own foundation. His foundation is focused on population control.
It is possible that the remaining 15% of his wealth will go to his foundation after his death. But that is far less than 85%.
