Amazon Video Rentals

Gary North - April 18, 2015

I teach a one-year course for the Ron Paul Curriculum: "Western Literature from 1493."

I devote Section 5, "20th Century," to movies. I assign short stories. Then I have students watch movie versions. I then teach about movies as story-telling devices: how they differ from printed literature. These differences are profound.

I could not teach this course without digital technologies.

Students can rent these from Netflix, but Amazon is easier.

Every movie I wanted to assign is available for $2.99 (standard definition) or $3.99 (high def). The main expense for most people is their time, not the rental fee.

My selections:

"The Man Who Would Be King"
"The Time Machine"
"It's a Wonderful Life"
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951) I am also assigning Ferrer's "Cyrano," but it is available free on YouTube in high def . . . at least for now.

Amazon allows 24-hour viewing. You can watch more than once.

If your viewing time is about to run out on the last day, Amazon does not cut it off until it is over. You can even pause it -- no cut-off.
