The biggest lie in computing is this one: "seamless transition."
I do not plan to replace Windows 7 with Windows 10 on my work-related computers. I have three. I do not want to climb a learning curve with the computers I depend on. I want no surprises.
But I would like to see how the new operating system system works. I would like to see new apps that will supposedly make my life better . . . cheap!
I have an old clunker laptop with Windows 7. I rarely use it. So, I decided to install Windows 10 on it. If things mess up, so what?
I tried. But Microsoft required me to ask for notification for the July 29 release -- a month ago.
I registered. Nothing happened. No notification. Dumb. But that's Microsoft.
Seamless transition? Hardly. No transition.
So, I cannot say that I like Windows 10. But I recommend this strategy. If you have an old Windows-based computer lying around, and you want to try Windows 10, that's the computer to install it on.
