Publishing Your Book

About a month and a half ago, I published my latest novel in the Mango Bob series on Amazon.

The book, Mango Key, takes place in Key West, and is a continuation of the adventures of Walker and his bobtailed cat as they live the good life in their motorhome traveling across the country.

I had planned to do some promotion of the book in January, but because I was working on another project, I never got around to it.

So it was quite a surprise to me to see that Mango Key had been ranked in the top 50 best selling mysteries and thrillers at Amazon, and in the top 2,500 of all books sold there.

According to Amazon, for the first two weeks of this month, Mango Key was outselling books from well known authors like Stephen King, John Grisham, J.D. Robb and others.

Even more impressive, Mango Key did this without any free days, discount pricing or giveaways. Just word of mouth and Amazon's own internal promotions.

As you might expect, I'm pretty happy about this. But I also know book rankings on Amazon fluctuate wildly and my book won't stay near the top for long.

Still, it's nice to see it get into top 50 - especially since a lot of people said the book cover (which I created) might hurt sales.

What about your book? Have you got it published yet? If not, add it to your 'to do' list for 2016.

Get it done and it could change your life.
