Sept. 8, 2006
I received the following letter this evening. I get letters like this all the time from people who love Jesus. I have for over 40 years.
The stupidity on this site is astounding. As a Christian, I truly believe that Jesus would only have loved you because he advocated loving one's enemy. You are a true enemy of Christianity.
And it's nice to know, based on your "college realities," that your likes won't be educating themselves (as evidenced by your redundant "avian bird flu.") Here's an idea about how to afford college: have a brain in your head and get a scholarship. I'm about to get two doctoral degrees -- and every bit of my higher education has been free.
Of course, if you're willfully ignorant, no academic scholarships will come your way.
Cheers
It never ceases to amaze me how Christians stand up for Jesus in this way. They know their letters will not change the recipients. Yet they send them anyway. They offer no solutions or suggestions. They are just blowing of steam.
They are driven by a level of hate that is remarkable, given the lack of any cause. I am a stranger. Why should they care? But, always, they invoke the name of Jesus. What is their motivation? What is the payoff?
This is beyond my powers of armchair psychology.
Something is bothering this woman, and it isn't the specific advice on this site. As far as I know, she is not a member.
By the way, there is a reason for "Avian Bird Flu." That reason is Google. If someone does a search for avian flu, my site will show up -- though how high, I don't know. The same is true of "bird flu." Why not use both?
I suspect that this almost-a-Ph.D (twice) has had no experience with marketing.
When I sent her an explanation, the letter bounced back. This lover of Jesus doesn't want explanations, I suspect. She just wants to criticize.
Christians can do better than this. They should do better than this. That's my message.
If you can win a 100% scholarship, do so. If you can't, or don't, then get your bachelor's degree for under $15,000 in two or three years. Here's how:
But if you do win one, don't parade your success as this poor woman has done. If you have no better control over your tongue than this, then it is best to say nothing. The Bible says, "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding" (Proverbs 17:28).
