This is from a GaryNorth.com site member. "It is easy to see why entrenched business interests with political clout, such as the hotel/motel industry, want to outlaw Airbnb: They don't want competition.

"I recently spent a week in Texas. In the area where I visited, a fleabag motel would have cost me $100 or more a night, a b&b $150 or more a night. Instead I chose an Airbnb host for $29 a night. I had a clean, modern room with private bath in a modest but attractive home in beautiful countryside. And wonderful conversations with my hosts. Both husband and wife are teachers, and since teachers don't make big bucks like hotel/motel owners, I'm sure they can use the extra income from renting out their room. It was a win-win situation.

"Hotel and motel prices today are a scandal. You pay a fortune just for a place to sleep for a few hours. Airbnb is a way to evade this lodging racket, and that's why the racketeers are fighting Airbnb with the tools of Big Government--the regulatory state."

The politicians are buckling. Let's hope customers fight back.
