I Have 1% Web Access
I am writing this on my Windows 7 computer.
This morning at 3:30 A.M., I went to my Windows 8.2 computer. There was a message. It had been upgraded by Microsoft. It was locked. I had to reboot.
I rebooted. Then I clicked GaryNorth.com. I got Connnecting..... Bad sign. Then I got the This connection has timed out message. Bad news. I clicked RonPaulCurriculum. Same. I clicked DrudgeReport. Same.
Then I clicked Google News. No problem. But when I clicked the links on Google News, not one worked. No New York Times. No CNN.
I clicked LewRockwell. No problem. But when I clicked any link that was not posted on LewRockwell.com, it timed out.
Google worked.
So, I went across the room to my second desk. I have my Windows 7 computer there. I booted it up. It accessed every site.
I have never heard of such a thing. I understand no Web access. That means I have a problem with my ISP: Comcast. But how is it possible to get 1%?
I decided to write this story. I wanted to provide evidence. So, I booted my Snagit screen capture program to make an image of the timed-out screen message for several sites. But Snagit would not save the images. I got a message that the program had failed. I tried again. Same thing. This has never happened before. I have used Snagit for years.
So, I cannot prove any of this. Yet here I sit at my Windows 7 computer, typing in this report.
My guess: something in the Windows 8.2 update was snafu. It's not Comcast. It's not Windows 7. My wife's Windows 7 computer has full access.
Now I must wait and see. If it stays this way, I have lost my Windows 8.2 computer.
There is an answer out there.
The Linux devotees have their knee-jerk response: "Join the true church." So do the Apple people. But I am not interested in switching churches at this late date. I like familiar liturgies. I had to abandon DOS. I had to abandon XP. Then Windows 7. At least I have a fallback position in my back-up computer.

Solution: 8:22 A.M. A local computer repairman had installed Microsoft's data backup system on my machine. It's called Launchpad. I unplugged it from the server, which serves as a hard drive storage backup system. I now have full access.
So, whatever Microsoft did to upgrade my computer, it messed up its own program.
