If you give something away, other than a plan for how to build a weapon of mass destruction, it is almost impossible for any government agency to prosecute you.
But how can you make money this way? By selling the manual on how to use it. Information is protected by the First Amendment. Just don't make any claims you can't prove.
People are allowed to sell information.
Consider the so-called Rife box. It supposedly cures diseases. People have heard the name. So, the sellers don't have to make any miracle claims for a Rife box, except as an experimental plaything.
Frankly, I don't think a Rife box exists. If there really is one, it is in a vault somewhere. The promoters who offer to sell you a "Rife box" can't prove the connection to the real one, whatever it was. But they get people to send them money for a dream of health. I don't approve of this sales strategy, but it is going on. A search of Google for "Rife" will reveal lots of offers. It will also turn up some horror stories, such as this one:
Then what about people who have treatments that really do work for at least some users? Why don't they adopt this "give it away" strategy? Because those who possess such "miracle cures" want both cash and credit. They want money, and they want recognition.
Recognition in this area of consumer service can land you in jail. What these people should avoid like the plague is recognition.
I know about such a machine.
Here is a step-by-step business plan I wrote that anyone with such a machine could implement, which would dramatically reduce the risk of prosecution. But no one will take my advice, I fear.
