Password Protection
There are lots of schemes. Which one might you actually use?
There is a free service, LastPass. Design a great password to keep anyone out of your LastPass account. Then create a complex password for each protected site. You won't have to remember any of them.

Be most careful about passwords for financial accounts.
Always assume that your computer or smart phone will be stolen. Select your passwords accordingly.
