Rep. Tim Murphy used to be a pro-life politician. He got elected by supporting this cause.
In real life, he was an adulterer who advised his mistress to abort the child. Only she wasn't pregnant. He did this in emails. How dumb can you get? Very.
Then one of his staffers posted an anti-abortion statement on his Facebook account in his name. The mistress got angry. She wrote to him: "And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options." He responded: "I get what you say about my March for Life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will." No need. Too late. He is now a political corpse. He should shut down his Facebook page. The story is here.
He has decided not to run again. He did not quit immediately, as he should have. He will draw his salary until 2019. He now has zero credibility. He is a pariah.
He is also an abusive boss. His staff has suffered 100% turnover. All in all, he is a loser.
Voters expect better. Usually they get better.
The media sharks have a feast when a politician is pro-life, and he does something like this. The media don't worry about adultery and abortion. That is their world. "Everyone does it." But they care deeply about pillorying the pro-life movement.
He is toast. He forgot the rule: "Do not betray your core constituency in the very area in which they have elected you, based on your moral stand."
The real victim here is his wife. I can find nothing in the media about her. This is typical.
Will she play Tammy Wynette? Will she stand by her man? Or will she divorce him and take everything he owns?
This is a tragedy masquerading as a soap opera.
