Screencasts for Customer Support

I don't care whether you are a customer seeking support or a customer-support representative: you can make your life easier with a screencasting program.

A screencast is a video of anything on your computer screen. You narrate it.

I have an Audio Technica 2020USB microphone on a boom. It is always 12 inches from me. It is ready to go.

Whenever I have a problem with software or some other problem, I produce a screencast. I explain my problem.

Recently, I bought a laser printer. It will not print on both sides of the paper. I produced this screencast to send to the customer support department.

This way, they can see exactly what's wrong. There should be no confusion.

I use this service: www.screencast-o-matic.com.

The company offers a free version. It inserts a watermark. This works fine, but the Pro version is better: no watermark. Also, I can embed a screencast on my website. It posts a player on the page. It's click-and-view. For three years, the Pro version is $29. That is cheap.
