George Washington University Charges $258,000 to Teach Students About White Christian Privilege

Gary North - April 04, 2018

George Washington University is located in Washington, D.C. It has been there ever since 1821. It has 27,000 students. For undergraduates, the cost is $64,500 a year, times four, or $258,000.

As part of $55,000 a year in tuition, the university offers this program:

The Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC) offers free training opportunities to students, faculty and staff members of the George Washington University (GW). These trainings equip students and staff with the necessary skills to promote diversity and inclusion in the different environments in which they find themselves frequently. These skills support diversity as a core value of the university by helping students create a climate that promotes the acceptance, inclusion and celebration of all cultures. Our diversity trainings include but are not limited to race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality and gender.

Here are the specifics:

Cisgender Privilege: But Those Pronouns Are So Confusing!
Christian Privilege: But Our Founding Fathers Were All Christian, Right?!
Abled-Body Privilege: Please All Stand If You Agree!
Socio-Economic Privilege: Where’s the Closest ATM?
Diversity 101
LGBTQIA Diversity and Inclusion
Religious Diversity and Inclusion
Unconscious Bias
The Art of Bridge Building
Transgender Diversity & Inclusion
Multiculturalism in the United States

Privilege! There is just too much privilege in America. I have added additional examples, which should be added to the GWU list.

IQ privilege: discrimination against the intelligence-challenged
Facial privilege: discrimination against plug-ugly women for homecoming queen
Athletic privilege: favoritism for whites for swimming, golf, and tennis scholarships

I clicked through on this link: Christian Privilege: But Our Founding Fathers Were All Christian, Right?!

How do Christians in the USA experience life in an easier way than non-Christians? Even with the separation of Church and State, are there places where Christians have built-in advantages over non-Christians? How do we celebrate Christian identities and acknowledge that Christians receive unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across our country? Let’s reflect upon ways we can live up to our personal and national values that make room for all religious and secular identities on an equal playing field. All are welcome!

Who is Timothy Kane? The GWU website informs us:

Since 2011, Timothy Kane has acted as interim associate director for inclusion initiatives at GW. Prior to that, he acted as the director of GW’s Office of Community Service. Now, Mr. Kane works to expand the diversity and inclusion efforts rolled out by GW. This includes the GW Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center, which provides information, education, and resources as well as a community center for LGBT students on campus. This is located in the MSSC center, where LGBT students as well as African-American student, Latinx students, Native American students, and South Asian/Pacific Island students can find community, mentorship, and education for GW students. Timothy, who has a master's degree in divinity and theology, is dedicated to ensuring that all types of diversity at GW are celebrated and meant to feel included in campus culture and student life. Timothy is a proud gay member of the LGBT community as GW. His masters thesis was titled "Solidarity as the Greatest Hope for the Gay and Lesbian Community." He hopes to promote this kind of solidarity amongst the LGBT community, and work towards celebrating the richness of diversity here at GW. His passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge as a professional working for LGBT rights and resources brings about a more accepting and inclusive climate here at GW.

I am appalled! GWU has refused since 2011 to give Mr. Kane a permanent job. We read: "He has been hired on an interim basis since 2011." If I were Mr. Kane, I would find a lawyer to work on a contingency fee basis to sue GWU for anti-homosexual discrimination. I would demand at least a million dollars in damages -- maybe two million. This sort of thing must not be tolerated! Toleration of intolerance is intolerable!

I am sure that white Christian parents who are shelling out $64,500 a year after taxes will join together and demand that GWU give this man a full-time position. Why am I sure about this? Because they send their children to GWU. They have demonstrated how committed they are to Mr. Kane's agenda. If they weren't, they would do what I have recommended.
