Peter Ustinov's Comedy Masterpiece: The Grand Prix of Gibraltar

Gary North - April 14, 2018

In 1956, a small jazz record label, Riverside, released The Sounds of Sebring. On the record, we heard interviews of some of the drivers: Argentina's Juan Manuel Fangio, America's Phil Hill, Britain's Sterling Moss (who is still alive), and Spain's Marquis de Portago. Then the narrator described the race.

The album sold well, surprising everyone. Riverside released a new version each year for six years.

In 1959, Riverside hired Ustinov to produce his version of such a race. He did all of the voices. He did all of the sounds.
