This year, 50% of Americans say they have no vacation plans. Of these, 50% say they can't afford it.
Wait until the recession hits!
I have to post four articles a day, six days a week, 52 weeks a year.
Summer vacation? Been there. Done that. Don't remember much.
My kids are grown. They get to take vacations with their kids. I hope they take lots of pictures. I will enjoy the pictures. No muss. No fuss. No traffic.
My wife will take a two-week vacation in California this summer to visit my son's family and her siblings. I will stay home. It's quiet.
I spend most of my life in my basement office. It's always quiet.
I like quiet. What about you? Should you take a vacation or pay down debt? That's what debt does to people. It restricts their future range of choices.
It's cheaper to take the kids to Six Flags or other amusement activities close to home than to travel to Disney World. Use what you save in travel and lodging to do more local activities . . . or pay down debt.
Even better, look for interactive activities that are related to science. These are a lot cheaper than amusement parks. Kids still have fun. Search online for "things to do with kids" within your ZIP code's driving range. You'll find several.
