Two years before A Christmas Story (1984), this "American Playhouse" show was run on PBS. It is a composite of Jean Shepherd stories from In God We Trust -- All Others Pay Cash.
I became a Jean Shepherd fan in my academic year in Philadelphia (1963-64). I listened to his 10:15-11 PM radio monologues broadcast on WOR in New York City. I started listening again when I moved to Irvington, New York in August 1971. There was no one else like him.
