My Brother B&W laserjet printer alerts me with a pop-up when the toner cartridge is running low.
I appreciate the warning. I then make sure I have at least one spare toner cartridge -- non-Brother toner, which I buy really cheap on Amazon.
But I don't take the warning seriously enough to change the toner cartridge immediately. Instead, I open the printer, remove the cartridge, and shake it. This gives me at least 200 extra pages.
If I have forgotten to order a replacement cartridge, this gives me time to order it and get delivery in two days or so. I love Amazon!
Meanwhile, shake it up, baby! Twist and shout.
