I saw this as a 9-year-old. I saw it by myself in a theater.
We were living in Denver. There was no television in Denver in 1951. So, I went to the movies every Saturday.
This became one of my favorite movies. In 1951, I added two more to my list of favorites: Cyrano de Bergerac, starring José Ferrer (for which he won an Oscar), and The Day the Earth Stood Still. I use all three in my junior English course for the Ron Paul Curriculum. I come back to this one more than I do the other two.
Before you watch it, read my essay, "Dining With Scrooge." It is here: https://www.garynorth.com/public/18965.cfm.
