The Incompetent, Toothless United Nations Proposes New Taxes
The United Nations Organization, known far and wide as the UN, is the finest example on earth of a toothless bureaucracy staffed by highly paid bureaucrats with no power who pretend that they have lots of influence and are earning their salaries.
The UN does serve as a cover occasionally for American Presidents to send American troops off to war. Congress goes along with this violation of American sovereignty. But on matters of taxation, Congress knows where its bread is buttered and its skids are greased. The UN never gets its greedy hands directly on the American public’s money. Congress demands that crucial sovereignty.
The UN proposes taxes on billionaires. The money will go to poor countries. (The money would in fact go to the tin horn dictators who run poor countries.)
The UN wants into the wallets of hard-hearted Western exploiters. The UN says that a handful of billionaires own an estimated $4.6 trillion, so a one percent tax on their wealth would raise more than $46 billion, according to the report.
“The ‘average’ billionaire would own $3.7 billion after paying the tax. If that billionaire spent $1,000 per day, it would take him or her over 10,000 years to spend all his or her wealth,” the report says.
This is the politics of plunder.
Congress is having none of this. “They’re ours! Leave them alone!”
But wait! There’s more! The UN wants lots more.
— a tax of $25 per tonne on carbon dioxide emissions would raise about $250 billion. It could be collected by national governments, but allocated to international cooperation.— a tax of 0.005 percent on all currency transactions in the dollar, yen, euro and pound sterling could raise $40 billion a year.
— taking a portion of a proposed European Union tax on financial transactions for international cooperation. The tax is expected to raise more than $70 billion a year.
It also suggests expanding a levy on air tickets that a number of nations already impose to raise money for drugs for poor states through UNITAID, a UN initiative.
It’s necessary because of stingy taxpayers in the West. “In short, such new financing mechanisms will help donor countries overcome their record of broken promises.”
None of this is going to happen. But if the UT — United Tribes — ever got real power, our wallets would be cleaned out by unelected bureaucrats in New York City who act as agents for tin horn dictators in places like Tyrannistan.
