Food Stamps for Tattoos and Porn in Massachusetts
The governor of Massachusetts has vetoed the bill sent up by the legislature to restrict the use of state food stamps to food.
Food stamps only for food? Why, this is an attack on the poor! The governor will not tolerate such a thought. The poor are entitled to a generous lifestyle at the expense of working stiffs!
The legislature has finally figured out that voters are beginning to be fed up. But the governor has not seen the light.
He signed a $32.5 billion budget.
According to the Boston Herald, which first reported the veto, the governor berated the legislature’s stab at banning the purchase of specific items like manicures, tattoos, guns, porn, body piercings, jewelry, and bail by saying the move was “political grandstanding” at a time when such reforms are already on track elsewhere.
He says it would be too hard to enforce any such bans.
Right. An EBT card leaves a trail of digits. But it would be too hard to follow this trail. The spending must go on.
Bankruptcy is coming. The governor of Massachusetts has not seen the handwriting on the wall. It’s too hard to read, I guess.

The level of public debt continues to increase across America and across the West. The politicians are oblivious. They refuse to pay attention to the fact that these debts cannot be paid off. They have no intention of paying them off. As long as the government can pay interest on these debts, the leading politicians do not care how large the debt burden is. They kick the can down the road.
The can keeps getting bigger. In the next recession, it will get bigger much faster.
