Pocket-Size Headphone Amplifier
I like to listen to old CD's these days. I have about 200 of them. My wife has a lot of them. If I listen to one a day, it will take me almost a year to go through them.
I listen when I am doing Web searches. I don't listen when I am doing serious reading or writing.
I own a discontinued Sony Walkman CD player. It works OK with a pair of closed headphones. I like the sound better with closed headphones. My first pair of Koss phones in 1958 were closed. ( http://bit.ly/Koss1958) That was back when I had good ears.
The main problem with the CD player is this: the amplifier is weak.
Here is an $18 CD player. Maybe it has a great amplifier.
If not, there is a cheap solution: the "Altoids amp." It runs on a 9-volt battery. Take a look.
You need a cable to hook it to a CD player. It's also cheap.
It works for me.
