The video is what I call a "gee whiz" video. It shows what the program can do, not how to do it. A "gee whiz" video is used to sell a product.
I call a how-to training video an "easy as pie" video. Its task is get a new user up and running in 15 minutes.
To do this, it must overcomes the new user's frustration.
Its main task is to create dependence on the product in 15 minutes. It shows how to take the first step of the #1 benefit of the product.
Most how-to videos try to show the user how to do too much. This overwhelms him, so he quits.
A series of one-task videos is far better.
