Face-On: Schick vs. Gillette
A year ago, I began a test: a Gillette Mach3 vs. a Schick Quattro.
Every day, I switch razors. I have used each blade for about six months.
Here is the trick: I use a strip of fabric from a pair of blue jeans as an old-fashioned razor strop. (My grandfather North used a straight razor and a leather strop. No safety razor blades for him! He saved a lot of money.) Here is my setup.
And the winner is . . .
The Schick. I still get a smooth shave. The Gillette is starting to pull. I may use it for another month for test purposes, but I am sticking with the Schick.
If you don't get six months per blade, you're paying too much.
