Why There Will Be No Democratic Welfare State

I am going to present a chart that I discovered yesterday. It reports good news.

I was trying to find a different chart. Actually, I was trying to find a series of charts: pie charts of US federal government expenditures -- which agencies get what percentage. Here is the latest one I can find: 2015.

Why There Will Be No Democratic Welfare State

I was going to do this on the recommendation of screenwriter William Goldman, who stuck this phrase into All the President's Men: "Follow the money."

The following chart follows the money far better than a series of pie charts. I found it on Wikipedia. I guess you could call this "hidden in plain site."

Why There Will Be No Democratic Welfare State

Because the chart is really large, you can see it a lot better if you click on the link. You can read the fiscal years at the bottom of the chart. The chart is here.

In this screencast, I analyze this chart's political implications. The basic implication is this: gridlock in Washington. The expenditures have already been allocated politically and legally. We can ignore the political rhetoric of the far Left.

As the political rhetoric escalates in 2020, keep this screencast in mind.
