Who Is Charles Bryfogle, and Why Should We Care?

I just received an email from Charles Bryfogle. He is upset with me.

I note you may have written a gazillion books, but if what you have written is not correct, or partially incorrect, that is a gazillion books that are wrong. I told you I had written two books, one of which I sent you. It was returned. I presume you had no interest in considering a different perspective on how God's rules are to be applied, and what we as Christians need to do, and not do, to achieve what God has set before us as our duty. I do not mind folks who disagree with my perspective on what I believe God has told us to do, and how to achieve it. I do not mind those who are so closed minded as to not be willing to consider another perspective, or consider the possibility, that they might not have all the answers. We either gets it right, or we die having been wrong. There is really only one truth.

Each one of us are microbes, we live but an instant, looking up at a God who is at the best of times difficult to understand, but easy to follow. It only takes a bending of the knee, and a mind open, willing an inflow of the Holy Spirit. If you have not yet picked up on this, I hope and pray you do. Charles Bryfogle

I note the following facts.

First, I have never heard of him.

Second, there is no record of any email from him in my files, which go back over 20 years.

Third, I had never heard of his book. I searched for it. There is only one reference on the entire Web. It is listed in a bibliography on a German website: https://www.libinst.ch/?i=library. The entry says the book was written in 2015. So, you cannot buy it on Amazon. There are no reviews of it.

Fourth, he began his letter by telling me that I have written a lot of books, and they are all wrong. I don't think he has read Dale Carnegie's book, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

He does not understand English grammar. He writes that "each one of us are microbes." The correct grammar is "each one of us is a microbe." It's irrelevant to any social philosophy I have ever heard of, and surely it is not taught in the Bible.

"We either gets it right, or we die having been wrong." His grammar is certainly colorful in a colloquial kind of way. It reminds me of this phrase: "You pays your money, and you takes your chances." But somebody who writes a book on the Christian roots of capitalism really should have a better command of grammar that Mr. Bryfogle does.

Fifth, he implies that I don't have an open mind. This is because he sent me his book, but he sent it to the wrong address.

I would say this: Mr. Bryfogle does not have what I would call a way with words. His book is not selling well. Actually, his book is not visible outside of a German-based bibliography.

So, for the benefit of Mr. Bryfogle, whoever he is, I am providing the following free articles on how to self-publish a book. Perhaps one of these articles will help him. The first one has this title: "Before You Send Your Self-Published Book to Reviewers, Do This." It is here: https://www.garynorth.com/public/15394.cfm.
