Video: The Chinese Communist Coronavirus
Some conservative media outlets are referring to the coronavirus as the Chinese coronavirus.
The mainstream media are outraged that the pro-Trump media have done this. They insist that, by naming the source of the coronavirus, this shows xenophobia.
My objection to calling this the Chinese coronavirus is different. The Chinese Communist officials at the top who covered up what was happening are the ones to blame. They could have stopped it early, but they didn't. They wanted to save face. They wanted to do what Communist tyrants have always done: sweep it under the rug so that the world doesn't find out about a major disaster.
This is traditional Communist practice. Lenin did this. Stalin did this.
The New York Times cooperated. Its full-time Stalin apologist Walter Duranty was the chief reporter of the Times in the 1930's. He was their "inside man" in Moscow. The Times preferred an inside man who lied rather than no reporter in the USSR. It wanted to be able to feature an on-the-scene reporter in dispatches. The senior editors thought it was better to have a liar writing dispatches than someone telling the truth. The censors would have prohibited him from sending the message, and he would immediately have been expelled. It was all about selling newspapers.
The Times was not alone. Malcolm Muggeridge was the on-the-scene man for the leftist British newspaper, The Guardian. He and his fellow Western reporters knew what was going on. They did not report the truth. They wanted to keep their jobs during the depression. He wrote about this in volume 1 of his 1973 autobiography, The Green Stick. (I regard volume 1 as the best autobiography I have ever read.)
Mao did something similar in the Great Leap Forward, 1958-62. It was an experiment in Communist agriculture. It produced a famine, as all Communist experiments in agriculture produced. About 30 million Chinese died. The estimates range between 20 million and 45 million deaths. I think 30 million is a reasonable estimate. The West's media ignored the events, rarely discussing what was going on.

This story has been suppressed by the media. The US government has not mentioned it. The mainstream media have denied it. It has not been featured on Fox News, as far as I know.
I would like to see this story get into the textbooks. I don't think this is likely.
Most of all, I hope this story gets out to the Chinese people. I hope the Communists fail to suppress the spread of this story: idea-quarantining. I hope the story becomes a political pandemic inside China. It deserves to.
