I don't make New Years' resolutions. I never have.
If I did, I would prepare two weeks early -- minimum.
Most people think about making a resolution to change a bad habit. They find out two weeks into the new year that the price is too high. Their cost-benefit analysis leads to a conclusion: quit.
I recommend a different strategy. Promise to work hard on some area of your life that is working for you.
Sit down and think carefully about areas in your life that are going well despite the lockdowns. Make a list.
Cull the list to no more than three. Two would be better.
What specifically can you do next year to keep moving forward, faster?
It is easier psychologically to work on what is going well than on what is going poorly. You will see success because you have already enjoyed success. Make success a habit.
Focus on a good habit that is visibly producing positive results. How can you extend this next year?
Accentuate the positive.
