These days, the screening person asks if you have an advance health care directive. This is a signed, notarized document that gives instructions on what to do for you if you don't wake up, but you also don't die.
Men don't like to think about this, so they procrastinate. They also do this with wills. And as for the power of attorney, "I won't need this!" Maybe not, but your wife may.
A few months ago, my wife and I went to an attorney to sign some papers. One was an advance health care directive. We both needed one.
