Showdown Over Masks: The Next 60 Days

The anti-maskers are winning the battle.

A year ago, the two most popular governors in the United States were California’s Gavin Newsom and New York’s Andrew Cuomo. Not now. In September, Newsom faces a recall election. Meanwhile, Cuomo has been asked to resign by Pres. Biden and every Democrat in Congress from New York State. Their careers are finished.

There are two major arenas on which the battle over the masks will be fought in the next 60 days. I am predicting victories in both arenas.

1. GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

You will be able to verify this in your community. Will the yellow buses be rolling? Will the students be jammed into them, hip to hip? Will the students be required to wear masks to get onto those buses? Will classrooms maintain social distancing? Will students be required to wear masks in the halls and the classrooms?

The CDC has determined once again that Americans are supposed to wear masks in public places indoors. It reversed itself on July 27. “CDC recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status.”

The CDC has thrown down the gauntlet. It has told school districts across America that they had better require students to wear masks. They had also better force teachers to wear masks. That is the CDC's official recommendation. We are going to see over the next 60 days how many school districts follow these recommendations.

My prediction: hardly any are going to follow those recommendations. Why not? Because parents are pulling their children out of the public schools. Homeschooling is now said to be 10% of the student population, K-12.

Here is how the funding works. State governments reimburse local school districts in terms of the number of students who are enrolled. If there is an exodus from a local school district, the state cuts these subsidies. The school districts have the same expenses, but the number of students enrolled in the schools has fallen, and therefore the reimbursements have fallen. The school districts are scrambling for money. They are in red-ink mode.

If they force students to wear masks, there is going to be a continuing exodus. There is therefore going to be a continual hemorrhaging of money from state governments to local school districts. That is why I do not think the districts are going to pay any attention to the CDC’s recommendation. They are going to tell the CDC to kiss off (while wearing masks).

State governments a year ago were perfectly happy to shut down private businesses that did not conform to the mask requirements. Initially, they were willing to suffer an exodus from the public schools. But no longer.

2. MASKS FOR THE VACCINATED

The public was told that "two jabs and you're safe." You no longer have to wear a mask. That is because you are no longer at risk. That is also because no one around you was at risk: you cannot transmit the disease.

Ho ho ho. And, I might add, ha ha ha.

It turns out that the Delta variant is transmitted by somebody who has had the double jab. The CDC has announced: “Fully vaccinated people who become infected with the Delta variant can transmit it to others.” It also announced the following:

To reduce their risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant and potentially spreading it to others, CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people:

Wear a mask in public indoor settings if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission.

Fully vaccinated people might choose to mask regardless of the level of transmission, particularly if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised or at increased risk for severe disease, or if someone in their household is unvaccinated.

Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Isolate if they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the prior 10 days or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Get tested 3-5 days after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days after exposure or until they receive a negative test result.

Continue to follow any applicable federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations.

Is there evidence that anyone who has been vaccinated is doing any of this? I am unaware of it. The media are not promoting this. It is being politely ignored.

The CDC has lost its mojo. It is now just a bunch of bureaucrats issuing press releases. Nobody is paying any attention to these press releases. Least of all are governors paying attention to these press releases. They do not want to be Newsomed.

If vaccinated people can get COVID-19's Delta Force, and if once they get it they can transmit it, then of what physiological benefit were the jabs? Maybe they do help. No one knows for sure. But people who thought they were immune are not immune. People who thought they were not placing other people at risk now find that they are placing people at risk. And what is their response? Ignore it. They are not wearing masks.

The CDC is in full-scale retreat. The governors are in full-scale retreat. The public schools are in full-scale retreat.

Then where are the maskers winning? Which state is returning to required masks? Where are the mask laws being enforced?

CONCLUSION

I realize that some websites try to convince their readers that Bill Gates and Klaus Schwab are coming to get them.

I do not think Bill and Klaus are a threat. I never did. They are – or were – masters of self-promotion, but they do not have any power.

Bill has a problem these days. Lurking in his background is a frightening word: “Epstein.” Nobody is saying in print that there was anything illegal going on, because nobody wants a lawsuit from somebody who is worth $100 billion. But the E-word is nonetheless floating around in conjunction with the word “Gates.” Mrs. Gates has departed.

Klaus is an 84-year-old has-been. Actually, in terms of his direct influence, he is an 84-year-old never-was. He got a lot of publicity. But did he have power at any point over the last four decades? Not that I can see. He has been a great promoter of anti-pandemic government power. Yet everywhere I look today, the anti-pandemic movement is in full-scale retreat.

All across America, the mask mandates are being removed. The bureaucrats who were enforcing the mandates a year ago are no longer told by their superiors to continue to put on pressure. The American population has not been vaccinated, and there is no indication that most of them intend to be vaccinated.

Keep your eye on the school buses. Over the next 60 days, the school buses will tell you who is winning this war in your community.
