One reason why home schoolers are going to change the United States is because home school parents are implementing what they believe at considerable expense.
They have made a decision that the tax-funded schools are enemies of Christianity -- a correct assumption.
They have decided that their children should not become victims of the professional kidnapping operation known as tax-funded compulsory education.
Then they put they money -- and time -- where their mouths are.
I know of few other movements with the modern world or within the church that calls upon laymen to make a greater commitment than home schooling.
By implementing their faith institutionally, home schoolers set themselves apart from most people. They are Christianity's "hard corps."
Mothers attend conferences on home schooling. They join internet forums. They read reviews on what materials are available. Rarely do they have much money. They are not quite church mice, but they are close.
Home schooling is under-funded. Yet it is having a profound impact on children who will become leaders in the future. These children will reach maturity without the worst of the public school's indoctrination and moral pollution.
Church leaders are generally uncomfortable with home schoolers. Such people are too independent. What they believe about the public schools is too radical. Their ideas threaten to make waves. There are too many public school teachers and parents of public school children in the congregations. Home schooling is therefore controversial.
These home schoolers will be ready to take leadership positions because of the sacrifices their parents made.
This, too, is unwelcome news to church hierarchies.
It is good news for Christianity.
