The biggest song in late 1956 was Harry Belafonte's Banana Boat Song. His album was the hottest-selling in the nation at Christmas: Calypso. You could not buy a copy. RCA had run out. I remember. I worked in a record store. All day long, we got calls for it -- calls from all over the region. No store in Southern California had a copy.
