I call the region the Paradise Corridor: northeast Tennessee. It runs from Knoxville to the Virginia border.
It is as pretty as western North Carolina, which is saying a lot. Tennessee has no state income tax on wages. This makes it unique in the region. This part of the state has a mild climate. It also has a low crime rate.
The tri-city area of Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol has a good regional airport. Johnson City has nicer homes.
Eastern Tennessee State University is in Johnson City. Its academic specialty is the region's mountain culture, especially music. This is Carter family country.
