From now until the end of November, your accountant has slack time. Now is the time to call him to schedule an appointment to discuss your plans.
Do you have retirement plans? Do you want to pass on money to heirs this year? Are you thinking about giving away money before year end? Get these issues dealt with in October or early November.
Because your accountant has more empty schedule time now, he might give you a discount for several hours of review. Maybe you have not gone over your plans in several years.
The same is true for your lawyer. What about your will? Is it up to date? You should have a trust instrument for most of your assets, thereby avoiding probate, but your will handles the bits and pieces that have accumulated since you set up your trust. Are they scattered? Now is the time of the year to get them organized.
