A $12/Day Lexus
My son-in-law doesn't pay retail. So, when he goes on a trip, he rents a car from HotWire.
The company is like Priceline. It offers car rental rates that are way below the listed rates on the car rental agencies' websites. "Hotwire" is a great name. When we hear the words "hot wire," we think "car theft." The company's name sends a message: "When you rent a car through us, you're strealing the car."
Two weeks ago, he flew into Atlanta. He went to the car rental agency to pick up his car. There was a line. It took him an hour to get his car. But there was a payoff: he got a Lexus. He got it for $12 a day.
In a case like that, it's wise to buy collision insurance. The cost of repairing a Lexus would be more than I would want to bear.
