Bush's CNN Interview: The Most Remarkable Political Interview I Have Ever Seen

George Bush gave an interview on CNN about the bailout of the Big 3 auto companies, i.e., the not so Big 3. This was given before he capitulated and agreed to use part of the $350 billion -- sitting unused in the Good Old Boys' Bank Bailout Fund -- to bail out GM and Chrysler. The Administration tried to get Congress to pass the auto bailout. Wisely -- just barely -- the Senate said no.

Here is what is astounding about this interview.

1. The interview received little publicity.

2. A sitting President admits that this recession is huge, and that an economic collapse is possible.

3. He says that capitalism has failed this time, and it needs bailouts to survive. He laments that he has had to do this.

4. The interviewer is an unknown.

This is a graduate of Harvard Business School. He sounds befuddled.

He looks unsure of himself. This is rare for any President, but especially Bush. He is beaten. He sounds beaten.
