College is a waste of time and money. So says the Wall Street Journal. So does the Christian Science Monitor: //www.garynorth.com/members/4335.cfm

But even when they know all this, parents buckle. It's hard to say no. This is why parents should offer a deal: half of what college would have cost as a college graduation present. The child pays for college, and then gets a nice fat bonus. The bonus money can fund grad school, or start a business, or buy a house. The student then pays a price for saying no to the offer.

There are no free lunches. Teach your child this principle early.
