My New Site (Free!) Is Up and Running. It May Not Help You, But You May Be Able to Help It.
June 1, 2009
The average family is deeply in debt. The recession has imposed crisis conditions on millions of families. They are trapped.
My new site is designed to untrap them. I call it Deliverance from Debt. It shows families how to cut expenditures, budget effectively, plan for the future, and . . . someday . . . start a savings program. But, first, they must escape the crushing burden of credit card debt.
The site is highly practical. Like this site, it offers Q&A forums.
Unlike this site, it is designed explicitly for Christians. The site's practical advice applies to anyone in debt, but Christians have a special responsibility in this regard. The Apostle Paul stated it very clearly: "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another (Romans 13:8a).
Churches ought to have debt counseling programs for members and non-members. Very few of them do. A few churches use the Crown Ministries materials, which are quite good, but people need personal debt counseling in addition to workbooks. Deacons should provide this. They don't.
I want my site to become a tool for local diaconates.
The site is 100% free. It contains no advertising. It is non-partisan and non-denominational.
I am hoping that some of my subscribers who got detoured down Debt Highway and got back on track will join the site and participate in the forums by answering questions. If the site gets a lot of members who are deep in debt, I will get overwhelmed answering questions. I need volunteers who can tell these people, "been there, done that."
Visit the site: www.DeliveranceFromDebt.com.
If you are a church member, let your deacons know about the site. Churches' income is down because their members are in financial trouble. This new site will help members and local churches get through this recession.
Please email this open-access page to anyone you know who might want to volunteer.
