The New York Times ran a series of articles as one long article on the economics of a master's degree. The authors are academics. Their conclusion: prepare to lose money.

My approach has been to spend less money earning a N.A. (under $15,000) and use the money for an M.A. But you should earn it where it's cheap and fast.
