Skype is a good deal. It offers free phone calls through the Internet. You can even get your Webcam to provide face-to-face chat. It's great for grandparents. They can see their grandkids on-screen. You can demonstrate a tool.
You can call internationally, computer-to-computer, free of charge.
So upset are Russian telecoms that they have asked the government to ban Skype. Why? Security reasons. Skype is not owned by Russians. Also, its calls are encrypted. The real reason is money.
The encryption is so good that the National Security Agency is offer billions to anyone who can break the code, so that the NSA can eavesdrop.
I use the same headset I use for dictating articles using Dragon Naturally Speaking. A friend in London called me recently. The transmission was as clear as any phone.
Download Skype for free here:
You can use it with your iPhone.
