Ever since New York City's Boss Tweed got taken down by Thomas Nast's newspaper cartoons, cartoonists have been inflicting damage on politicians. As Tweed said, the people who voted for him did not read newspapers, but they could understand cartoons.
Then there was this one in 1960: Nixon's face, with this beneath it: "Would you buy a used car from this man?" It may have cost Nixon the Presidency. (I can't find it on the Web.)
This one is short and to the point.
