Help Me Test This Free Website of Wonderful Economics Materials, Some of Which I Wrote.

Jan. 14, 2010

I'm going to introduce you to a true treasure trove of economics materials -- materials that trained me, and then, beginning a decade later, I helped write to train others for the next 30 years. It's all free.

The original free market monthly magazine, The Freeman, is now on line in PDF.

But there is a glitch. I find that the issues do not download. I use cable Internet. I want to find out if the problem is at my end or the site. So does the publisher. Please help us test this. Go here:

http://thefreemanonline.org

You will see the link, Archive (3rd from left). Click it. See how many seconds it takes to access the Archives page. Count: "One thousand one. One thousand two." Is it over 10 seconds? Over 20? Or fast?

Once the Archives page appears, does it freeze up? If so, for how long? 20 seconds? 30? Or not at all?

Then go to the Browse by Year drop-down. Click. How long does it for the list of years to drop down?

How long does it take to select a year? Click.

Click SUBMIT to download the year. How long does it take to get that year's issues on-screen?

Does your your computer screen lock up at any point, requiring Ctrl-Alt-Delete to escape?

If any step takes longer than five seconds per page/option to access, warn the publisher. Tell him what you experienced. His name is Larry Reed.

The issue may be at my end. If so, it's strange.

You will find the materials excellent. The site also has the articles in HTML. They are easy to read, but you cannot footnote the articles precisely. An HTML file is one long page.
