When site members ask me specific questions on one of my forums, I often post this answer as a way to help them focus. I can't answer their question well if I don't know more about them

Location
Occupation
Annual income
Net worth (not home equity)
Home equity
Retirement date
#1 goal in life
Your plan to achieve it
#1 fear in life
Your plan to deal with it

Maybe this list can help you to focus. The list helps you identify your assets and goals. Matching these should be your first step in developing a plan of action.

Of course, most people don't want a plan of action. It's too specific. But people who have a plan of action are more likely to end up in old age where they wanted to be than people who don't ever have a plan of action.
