A Third-Year Law Student, Facing a Financial Disaster, Begs to Get His Tuition Refunded. Fat Chance.

Gary North

Oct. 20, 2010

This third-year law student spent a fortune on tuition. There are no job prospects. His wife is pregnant. He begs the dean for a refund of 2.5 years of tuition.

Talk about hopeless.

Here is his letter. Read it.

It reminds me of the scene in Lost in America, where Albert Brooks pleads with a casino operator to get back the money his newlywed wife has just lost while he was sleeping. She lost his entire stake for starting a new career. The movie is not funny, and this is its least funny scene. Painful.

If you don't finish school, your money is down the drain.

If you do finish, your job prospects are minimal. Your money is down the drain.

Don't pay more that $15,000 for college.

Don't go to law school.

Don't believe the hype. Don't borrow money for your education.
