Thanksgiving is the season when families get together. This presents an opportunity to get rid of junk: family memorabilia.
If you have been storing stuff for years to give way to the kids someday, make it this week. You don't need it. You never use it. You never even look at it. So, get rid of it. Offer it to them. Tell them it's part of your plan to get rid of the clutter. They can take it home with them.
If the say they don't really have room for it either, let any relative take it. Otherwise, toss it out. Make it an event.
If you are saving it for someone who really doesn't want it, get rid of it now.
We are all bogged down with stuff. At Christmas, we get even more of it. Thanksgiving is for getting rid of some of it.
