How Tom Woods Took My Marketing Advice
Feb. 26, 2011
Tom Woods has taken my advice. He has set up Websites. He has adopted YouTube.
Look at his video. It cost nothing to produce. He has a lapel microphone, which is close to invisible. The sound is very good.
He is promoting his new book. He summarizes the basic theme: the statist myth that, without Federal spending and regulation, we would live in a terrible world. He is preaching to the choir. This is fine; he is offering to sell people a book that will help them express their concerns about the growth of the Federal debt. He is aiming this at Tea Party members.
He tells you what is in the book.
He offers a site to go to where you can download a free chapter. He directs people to this site: www.RollbackBook.com. Notice that he capitalizes the R and the Book. This makes the address easy to recall. This pops up at the bottom of the screen late in the video.
He also has his own site: www.TomWoods.com. I encouraged him to do this, and he did.
He has two calls to action: (1) visit his book site and download a free chapter; (2) promote his video. He offers a good reason why: he has no way to get into the mass media. He is appealing to people who want to get this message to others.
If I were in his shoes, I would do a 3-minute video on each chapter. People will watch short videos. More short videos beat fewer long videos.
Anyone with a story to tell can produce a video like this. The technology is cheap. The outlet is free.
This video will be online forever. It will provide a constant stream of visitors to his site.
There is nothing that you want to promote that you could not promote better if you produced a simple video like this, along with a a Website. You can get the site for free: www.WordPress.com or www.Blogger.com.
