Jerks for Jesus is the world's largest parachurch ministry. Have you joined?
Jerks for Jesus are noted for butting in where they are neither asked nor qualified to speak.
They are known for sending unsolicited critical emails to experts in a particular field.
Jerks for Jesus are known for the following: things they have never done.
Written a book
Had an article published by any magazine or Website
Attended seminary
Read a systematic theology cover to cover
Read a monograph on the topic which they send an email about
Hosted a website on the topic
Produced a simple YouTube video on the topic.
Taught a Sunday School class on the topic.
Given a speech to a group of specialists on the topic
Consulted a theologian about the topic
Donated money to an organization specializing in the topic
In short, the jerk for Jesus knows almost nothing about the topic. But he sends an email to a specialist who may have spent 40 years working on the topic.
Why do jerks for Jesus do this? Because they are arrogant. They want the specialist to know just how misinformed he is. They want him to know how well-informed they are. They want to put the expert in his place. "Sit there and listen to me, sonny. You don't know Jack Diddly Squat. Let me straighten you out."
Are they really this stupid? I have received such letters for decades. Yes, they really are this stupid.
They are ultimately driven by envy. They are, in the old phrase, green with envy. They resent the fact that others have come to well-informed opinions that are in violation of the slogans that the jerks have parroted but have never understood. They want to pull down the expert. What right does he have to challenge the slogan of a lifetime?
They are not interested in hard work. They are not willing to commit to a lifetime of study. They live in terms of undigested slogans. They think others should imitate them.
They have no followers. They have treated others with the same contempt that they treat the expert. It is a matter of habitual practice.
No one listens to them. This enrages them. So, they send their enraged letters to experts.
They are losers. Losers for Jesus.
If you have joined Jerks for Jesus, I suggest that you submit your resignation.
